Over the past 2 years or so we’ve tried to run some bespoke training sessions on using various tools/technologies, and had varying degrees of success. Each year, the eLearning Unit within the Centre for Lifelong Learning also run a ‘Summer School’ with various sessions. This post is written by Dan Roberts from the eLU and shares some of these sessions coming up in June!

The eLearning Unit (eLU) will be running a summer school from Wednesday 10th to Friday 19th June (and one extra session on July 9th) with introductory and specialised sessions on some of the key tools and facilities in VITAL, as well as their VITAL introduction for administrative staff.

New sessions on offer this year include:

  • an introduction to screen and lecture/session capture using the University’s Stream Capture system;
  • a short, practical, beginner’s guide to VITAL (‘VITAL Essentials’);
  • an introduction to Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) in July.

The complete schedule follows below. Each title is a link to a full description and the booking page. If you have any problems at all booking onto a workshop please email the admin team

The main pre-requisite for the summer school sessions (apart from the introductory workshops) is that you are familiar with VITAL and using its main facilities, but please contact us if you want to discuss the suitability of any of the sessions. You are welcome to book on as many sessions as you wish, although we would ask that if you find yourself unable to attend to unenrol as soon as possible.

Please also remember that we are able to run tailored workshops for schools and departments (with a minimum of five attendees). Get in touch with the eLearning Unit to discuss this option.
